Jeanie Perkins is a Mobile Bay Area musician and singer-songwriter. Up until her recent relocation to the tropical shores of Mobile Bay, Jeanie performed regularly as a pianist in the Dallas area. Having grown up on the New Orleans north shore, Jeanie performed throughout Louisiana as a teenager. After moving to Denton, Texas to attend college at University of North Texas, she earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Composition from that prestigious school. She remained in Dallas for many years, working extensively in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Los Angeles, and Nashville.

“Greater Than That (The Best Christmas Songs You Never Heard)” was
produced by Dallas music veteran, songwriter/producer Bev Houston and
engineered by Grammy-winning producer Phil York! Jeanie wrote four of the songs and sang two cuts on this stellar
project which was released for Christmas 2004.
It is scheduled to be in stores for Christmas 2005.

Jeanie's CD of
story-songs, "Lies and Lace" is an eclectic blend of influences from
her pop, rock, delta, folk, R&B, jazz, and even classical background. She
has woven these styles together with masterful clarity. This is good, tasteful
music written by a connoisseur of music theory and composition. It appeals to
all ages, a fact proven out by Jeanie's fans, who range in age from small
children to college age to long-lived individuals of experience and
discernment! In other words, "Lies and Lace" contains something for
everybody. Jeanie's narrative, "slice-of-life" lyrics tell stories of
human empathy, social commentary and photographic bits of Americana. "Lies

As keyboardist for the Los Angeles-based rock band "Jump in the Water", Jeanie assisted them in acquiring recording contracts with MCA Records and Polygram. She was a songwriter in Nashville for Bruce Publishing, and for Everland, the children's division of Word Records.
Meanwhile, back in Texas, she was a New Folk Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1996 & 1997, and won the B.W. Stevenson Songwriting Competition at the legendary Poor David's Pub in 1998. Jeanie's Dallas area venues include the Uncle Calvin's Coffee House, Wildflower Festival, Artfest, Earth Day, Texas Wine & Music Festival, Texas Arts & Music Festival and many, many more. She was privileged to perform with Rod Kennedy, founder and producer of the Kerrville Folk Festival, on the opening night of his 1998 book tour, along with Leslie Gail Brooks and Emily Aronson. For years, Jeanie actively promoted her fellow Dallas area singer-songwriters, hosting songwriter stages at numerous concerts and festivals. Until May of 2001, Jeanie performed at the Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown Dallas and at numerous venues throughout the Emerald City.
Children's Music
In April of 1997,
Jeanie released a children's album, "Songs to Grow By". It has
gleaned glowing reviews in the Los Angeles Times and Songwriter's Monthly,
received national airplay from New York to Alaska, as well as pages of positive
reviews from radio station program directors all
over the United States.
Jeanie
was invited to Los Angeles by Rhino Records to perform in their Rockin' Tots
series. You can hear her singing her song, "Everybody's Special in a
Different Way" on the KidRhino
release, "You're a Special Person", part of their series,
"Chicken Soup for Little Souls".
Other Projects
Jeanie is pleased to have been a vocalist and / or keyboardist on many other
great projects, including projects for “Sha Na Na” and “Big Daddy”, to name a
few. Jeanie has written for Bruce Publishing and Everland (Word) Records in
Nashville. She is a proud contributor of songs to worthy projects, such as
“Moments of Grace”, the proceeds of which go to support “Arts for People” in
the Dallas area.“Arts for People” brings Dallas area music and m
usic
therapy where it’s needed the most, into hospitals, nursing homes, and over 100
